Why the UFL is going to succeed

The UFL is going to succeed. Why do I say that? It has the lessons of the USFL to learn from as well as the XFL. Along with that, rather than being launched by people who don't know football (Vince McMahon) it is being launched and managed by football professionals. Frank Vuono is the COO of the league. He is the former NFL Consumer products chief.

The Commissioner of the League, Michael Huyghue has been a VP with the Lions and the Jaguars of the NFL. He's been a GM in professional football and served on numerous committees within the NFL working with the NFL Commissioner. Rick Mueller, one of the league VPs is a previous VP with the New Orleans Saints. The list goes on and on. Even the officiating is being overseen by a former NFL chief of officiating. Along with that, the founders and financial backers are major industry types with tons of cash and experience in generated revenue.

The coaches are former NFL coaches (Jim Haslett, Ted Cottrell, Jim Fassel and Denny "They Are Who We Thought They Were" Green). Which brings up another interesting point - by starting with four teams, the season is short, the initial overhead is much smaller than the XFL was and there is plenty of room to grow.

I have faith in this group of people. I think they have done their homework on the history of the NFL as well as the history of the "upstarts". They know football and they know business.

As for me, I plan to do my part and I am a similar expert on my role in this whole endeavor...overeating and watching some football!
